NCAA BASKETBALL 2017: SBPI [SportsBoss Power Index] FINAL

Here is the FINAL 2016-2017 College Basketball SBPI ratings for the Top 200 teams in the country (SUM is rating for team & can be compared to prior season’s in my Top 100 of last 13 year’s blog entry; RANK = ranking of each team’s SOS Adjusted performance; KP = Ken Pomeroy; BPI = ESPN’s index; RPI = Ratings Percentage Index; OFF RANK = SOS adjusted rank of performance offensively; DEF RANK = SOS adjusted rank of performance defensively;):

Florida held the #1 spot for most of the season and unfortunately we will never know what “could have been” had Egbunu not gone down with a season ending injury in mid February.
Last season we had just ONE team post a rating of 400.0 or better – a rarity that only happened two other seasons since I started my ratings system in the 2002-2003 season.  This year we had FOUR teams post a 400.0 or better rating (Florida, West Virginia, North Carolina [national champions] & Kentucky), which is tied for 2nd most only behind FIVE teams reaching that level in the 2014-2015 season.  Here is a chart showing number of teams that finished at that rating minimum in each season:
