For purposes of this analysis I used a cut-off of 53 games played & 196 plate appearances.

These figures represent how many runs each player generates on his own per game played.  One item of note is Yoenis Cespedes has generated almost exactly the same runs created during his time with Oakland & Boston hence I show his “total season” figure above.

Here are how many each team has out of the 97 players listed above:

This information can be very useful come October baseball as a team like Kansas City for example only has 1 player on their team who ranks in the Top 97 of runs generated – not good especially considering they do not have a lights out pitching staff, have little to no playoff experience, and are likely to be facing a very strong team in the AL.  You can also discount the Colorado Rockies tying for the top spot with 5 players since not only is Tulowitzki out for the season but a stadium factor adjustment should be included in their figures; on the flip side the SF Giants also are tied for the lead at 5 players generating runs inside the Top 97 of MLB & they play half their games in a tough park for offensive baseball – considering their recent playoff success & seemingly better balance this season vs. their two championship clubs they could be a team to keep an eye on come October.

Lastly let’s take a look at the runs each lineup generates when their usual healthy players are available:

4.855
WAS
4.463
BAL
4.448
MIA
4.047
BOS
4.179
ATL
4.042
NYY

PHI

3.765
NYM
3.427

PIT
4.286
MIN
4.501
MIL
4.255
CWS
4.072
CHC
3.814
CLE
3.889
STL
3.727
KC
3.885
CIN
3.529

LAA
4.711
COL
4.459
OAK
4.067
SF
4.351
HOU
3.976
LAD
4.077
SEA
3.931
ARI
3.039
TEX
3.624
SD
2.760

I list these numbers in order by division because it’s important to remember the AL teams have 1 extra man generating offense (DH) while the NL figures are based on 8 men lineups.

I will be back next week with an update to my MLB Pythagorean Theory projected standings.

Thanks for reading, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
